The waiter went to them. Dressed in cargo pants, blue in colour and a long sleeve shirt with a patterned waist coat ot vest to match.
He took their orders, left and returned quickly. Both were served by the waiter and they started munching and cruching the food before them.
“How did your day go?” Jessica asked with her eyes roving around the restaurant. She’s been there only once or twice and a lot of things had changed.
New tables, chairs, curtains. The waiters and waitresses dessing looked so funny to her. She couldn’t help it.
“. . . . . . .new clients and so on”, Shirley was saying. “But I managed to run away, just for our lunch.”
“How sweet of you”, Jessica managed to say coming back to her senses.
“Yours?”
“I performed 3 surgeries, that explains why I came late.”
“Wow! Well, how are things after dad’s death?”
“Dominic, my cousin and I have been made heirs to dad’s business.”
“What! I thought that should be only you?”
“Well, his dad’s late and my dad promised him on his deathbed.”
“Oh!”
“Oops!” Jessica exclaimed, covering her mouth. “Shouldn’t have said that.”
“Why?”
“Supposed to be a secret.”
“Well, you can count on me.”
Two tables away from Jessica and Shirley, sat a man wearing a black shirt and jeans. He watched Jessica and Shirley. It seems he was sent to spy on Jessica.
As Jessica said: “Dominic, my cousin and I have been made heirs to dad’s business”, his eyes narrowed toward her to make sure it was Jessica who made that comment.
Taking out his phone, he dialled a number.
“What’s up?” asked a deep male voice.
“She said it, that Dominic and herself are heirs.”
“Kill her!”

“That was a wonderful evening!” exclaimed Shirley laughing.
“You enjoyed it!”
“Yeah! Your brother Charles is so funny and Dominic, so romantic!”
“You are falling in love?”
“Of course not!”
“She’s lively and sweet, you’re fortunate to have her.”
“That’s nice.”
“I’ll be going now.”
“Good night.”
“Sleep tight.”

Jessica moved back to where her car was parked. As she moved, she heard some footsteps behind her. At first, she thought it was her imagination, suddenly the footsteps sounded close to her.
She turned and behold!
A man wearing a mask and holding a dagger pointing at her was in front of her. She was face to face with death!

Staring at the clouds once more, Jessica leaned herself to the caravan.
Soon enough, she heard the footsteps of the man chasing her. Quickly, she thought of what to do. Her eyes caught a heavy metal, it was as long as her legs.
She picked it up, stoop up and held the metal, her grip on it was tight, close to her chest. She held it up stretching forth her hands with the metal on them. She had to fight back!
Her dad had once taught her karate. Now was the time to display what she had learned, to show that she never took for granted her lessons.

“Charles!” screamed Mrs Beauty Jack.
“Mum, what’s the matter?”
“Jessica’s not home yet!”
“What?”
“We better look for her!”
“Mum, calm down. I’ll call Shirley and Dominic and Richmond.”
“What if she’s not with them?” Mrs Beauty askd with tears streaming down her cheeks.
“I’ll call 911, just relax.”

The man’s footsteps became quicker and faster. Jessica tightned her grip on the metal.
He came face to face with her.
Immediately, she struck him with the metal. He fell down, bleeding, he managed to get up. As he did, Jessica kicked him between his legs. He yelped in pain, fell again. She stepped on his head with her heels. He sustained serious injuries and was bleeding. He groaned in pain.
She ran back to where her car was parked as fast as she could. She got in and drove home whimpering.
